A good fit is about more than just shoe size. Foot width, shape and size, lower leg/calf size, material and design can all have a bearing on fit and comfort. For socks where you have a choice of size but your own shoe size is on the border between two sock sizes then we recommend that you go for the larger of the two. For example, you’re looking for size 8 and the socks comes in 6-8 and 8-10, then go with the larger size.
We will just call it now. Shoe and sock sizing is nuts. Gender needs to go, if a sock fits and you like it, wear it! Ever see this stuff that says sock size 9-11 or 10-13? Well it's NOT shoe size. It actually refers to something entirely off the wall called sock size. Do you know your sock size? Uh huh. Here we offer conversion charts for children and adult sizes. If you know your EURO size you can easily convert to North American sizing. Because, well, in North America someone decided we needed both women and men sizing. Go figure.
Our sock listings include sizing info in the product description and offer both North American and EURO sizing comparisons.
Because of the large number of brands we carry and the various sizing they use, we have made an attempt to offer some consistency to aid in searching our site for the right fit. Although our adult sizes can run from XS to XXL, you will find that M(edium) is a general women's sized and labeled sock and L(arge) is a general men's sized and labeled sock. The Darn Tough brand is an exception to this with their unisex sized socks so it is always important to check the product description for sizing information. Because our feet are all uniquely awesome and different (who is that Morton person and how did they get a toe namesake?) please check the Fits approximate shoe size: area on each product page to ensure the sock is right for you. If you are still unsure and would like some guidance please contact us and Mooselow, our resident Sockologist or a member of our Customer Care team would be happy to help when we are not on break or wandering about within Algonquin Provincial Park.
Machine wash in cold water usually does the job. All socks last longer when you air/line dry plus it's better for the planet.
Do not bleach, dry clean or iron. :)
